Better than I expected

The clearest explanation of web graphics I have come across.

I had been on the fence about this one for a while, and I should have bought it sooner. Some terminology is introduced without much ceremony; I had to look a few things up along the way. A couple of chapters felt like they could have been merged, but that is a minor complaint. The early chapters move quickly through material I already knew, but the later sections were genuinely new to me. One of those books that pays for itself within the first few chapters. Highly recommended.

Mixed feelings

Some sections were excellent and others felt like filler.

I had been on the fence about this one for a while, and I should have bought it sooner. The author clearly knows the subject deeply and has thought hard about how to teach it. A few of the examples could be more realistic, but the underlying points come across clearly. A few of the examples could be more realistic, but the underlying points come across clearly. Useful as a reference, less so as a straight read from cover to cover.

Good value, minor gaps

Recommended, with the caveat that it is not a gentle introduction.

I have been working with web graphics for a few years now and I still found plenty here that was new to me. I appreciated the honesty about what the book does not cover — it saved me from expecting things that were not there. I appreciated the honesty about what the book does not cover — it saved me from expecting things that were not there. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. Good value for the price and worth the time it takes to work through properly.
